So the weekend came & went with little fan fare.
Friday was a party at Bruce’s place followed by beer gardening down at Kits beach Saturday only to travel all the way out to Maple Ridge to another one of Bruce’s friend’s houses.
All this time I’ve thought that middle class is dead in the lower mainland but if you drive east enough you find it located in a place called the valley where suburbia is alive & well. Can’t say that I would want to live all the way out there in strip mall mania but there is something to be said to be able to purchase a 3 level home for the same price a 2 bedroom 800ft condo downtown.
Sunday was a lot of recovering (you drink a lot in the suburbs) but was able to make it to a friend’s bbq in yaletown so we could all get together & make our way over to David Lam to watch a little movie in the park. In effort to promote the neighborhood, Yaletown business association put on a free screening of ET in the park which was kind of cool except for the fact that after about an hour, you’re just watching a movie. If I had been a forward thinker, I would have brought a chair, snacks, blankets… flask(s), but I’m not. I brought a towel, sat on the ground & froze my sober ass off.
Bet you don’t do THAT in the valley.
